  7. Compatibility Statement:
  8. Ami Pro 3.0 is compatible with LANtastic NOS v4.xx.

  11. Product Overview:
  12. Ami Pro is a Microsoft Windows 3.x  based word processing
  13. system.  As of version 3.0, operation of Ami Pro over the
  14. LANtastic Network Operating System is directly supported.

  17. Test Equipment Configuration:
  18. The following machines were used for Ami Pro 3.0 testing.  All
  19. machines used Artisoft AE-3 NICs.  Testing was completed using
  20. LANtastic NOS v4.1.   The LANtastic peer to peer server is
  21. designated by (S).  DOS Share was loaded in all tests.

  24.     - CompuAdd 325:     386SX/25, DOS 5.0,  Windows 3.1
  25.     - Packard Bell 16x: 386SX/16, DOS 4.01, Windows 3.1

  28. Installing Ami Pro v3.0:
  29. Installation is achieved via Ami Pro INSTALL facility initiated
  30. by invoking the RUN command within Windows.  Choose the "Install
  31. Ami Pro on Server" ,  "Complete Ami Pro Installation"  and
  32. "Windows" option icons during the installation.  After  Ami Pro
  33. has been installed on the server, install the node software on
  34. each designated workstation using the following steps:

  36.     Net Login \\<Ami Pro Server>  <UserName> <Password>
  37.  
  38.     Net Use  <Drive ID>  \\<Ami Pro Server>\<Ami Pro Installation Drive>
  39.  
  40.     Start Windows on the workstation.

  42.     Invoke the RUN command and enter in the command box:

  44.         <Drive ID>\<Ami Pro Installation Directory>\Node\Node
  45.

  47. The Node program will install the necessary changes to the
  48. Windows .INI   files and create any necessary workstation
  49. directories.

  52. Compatibility Notes;
  53. Because of the fixed requirement that all Ami Pro documents have
  54. the extension of .SAM,  documents cannot be passed via LANtastic
  55. mail services using the DDE (Dynamic Data Exchange) function of
  56. LANtastic for Windows.  The extension given to a mailed DDE
  57. document under LANtastic is ._SP which Ami Pro cannot be coerced
  58. into recognizing (Artisoft tracking number T01292).

  61. Security:
  62. If two or more users are accessing the same document
  63. simultaneously, both may review the document, but only one may
  64. update it.  Any other user updating the document will receive a
  65. "Document Locked" error message.

  68. Printing :
  69. Printing documents to network printers is fully supported by Ami
  70. Pro 3.0.
